Anti-inflammatory Creamy Hot Golden Cocoa

Hot cocoa is a must in the cooler months. But, for me, the typical versions, even when homemade tend to upset my stomach due to the amount of refined sugar and dairy. This version uses cacao and maca which calm the nervous system and aid the stress response. I add a little turmeric to reduce any microinflammation throughout the body, and it ties in nicely with the cacao to create a delightful combination of both hot cocoa and golden milk.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups plant-based milk, such as almond or coconut

1/2 tbsp cacao powder

1/2 tsp maca powder

1/2 tsp turmeric

1/8 tsp cinnamon

dash black pepper (activates the turmeric for better absorption; you won’t taste it)

1 tbsp agave syrup, (or maple syrup or honey) to taste preference

Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and whisk over medium-low heat to desired sipping temperature. Enjoy while wearing your favorite cozy socks :)
